Recently there are many serious arguments on how bra can affect woman’s entire health, some will just ignore this kind of warning, but someday they will realize the importance of this article.
It sounds funny to know that you need to go out without bra, just to get rid of having breast cancer in the future, but of course there is an alternative way to make you comfortable, it is very important to have bras as a supporting device for breasts, especially for large sized.
However, not all bras types are beneficial. If, for example, you prefer the latest styles, or those that make your breast look bigger or perkier, as opposed to those that provide best support, you could be putting yourself at risk of some serious health issues.
WHY IS WEARING A BRA BAD FOR YOUR HEALTH?
One study suggests that wearing a bra can lead to breast cancer. This theory is grounded on how the body self-cleanses of toxins, as well as research results between women who did and didn’t wear bras and the corresponding breast cancer rates.
The same idea is supported by anthropologists Singer and Grismaijer, authors of the book Dressed to Kill: The Link between Breast Cancer and Bras, who explain that it’s the compromised lymphatic flow caused by ill-fitting bras that actually increases the risk of breast cancer. The study included over 4,000 women.
The findings revealed:
- women who wore their bras 24 hours per day had a 3 out of 4 chance of developing breast cancer,
- women who wore bras more than 12 hour per day, but not to bed, had a 1 out of 7 risk,
- women who wore their bras less than 12 hours per day had a 1 out of 52 risk, and
- women who wore bras rarely or never had a 1 out of 168 chance of getting breast cancer.
Plus, Singer and Grismaijer also observed past bra-wearing behavior of the subjects, which is very important for a disease that takes such a long time to develop.
In addition, many health experts and scientists today support the idea that wearing a tight fitting bra can cut off lymph drainage, which can lead to the development of breast cancer, due to the fact that the lymph function to eliminate all the toxins that enter your body on a daily basis is compromised. For example, one potentially dangerous source of toxins that can build up if your lymph drainage is impaired is aluminum from antiperspirants.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO REDUCE YOUR RISK?
If you want to reduce the possibility of compromising your breast health, which heavily depends on proper lymphatic drainage, consider several factors related to this piece of underwear. The degree of blockage of lymphatic drainage depends on the style of the bra, the tightness, and the length of time worn.
Owing to the fact that many women choose their bras by the latest fashion, you can avoid some of the improper drainage issues if you wear a bra that is properly fitted rather than the latest trend. Ideally, you could start trying to go braless, but you may take some time to adjust. In order to avoid the uneasiness you might feel because of your nipples showing, or the lack of breast support you’ve been used to, try wearing a tank with a built-in bra or a bandeau under your clothes. This will help you feel some of the tightness and support a bra provides.
